There are a few different companies on the market today that sell Nitrous Oxide for motorcycles. By adding one of these kits to you bike, it’s like giving your motorcycle a kick in the pants. Nitrous oxide is a safe non-flammable gas that when introduced into fuel system adds oxygen to the gasoline making the fuel burn fast, thus giving you more horsepower. Just make sure you follow all local motorcycle safety laws before use of a dry nitrous system.

You might have heard the buzz about using nitrogen instead of air in your tires, but you may have asked why? Most tires are filled with compressed air, which when dry consists of about 78 percent nitrogen, 21 percent oxygen, and 1 percent other gases by volume. Water vapor (humidity) can make up as much as 5 percent of the volume of air under worst-case conditions. Filling your tires with nitrogen mainly does two things: it eliminates moisture, and it replaces small oxygen molecules with fat nitrogen molecules, reducing the rate at which compressed gas diffuses through porous tire walls. That means, theoretically at least, that a tire filled with nitrogen retains optimal pressure longer, leading to more uniform tire wear and better gas mileage. The commonly quoted figure is that tires inflated to 32 psi get 3 percent better mileage than at 24 psi. And who doesn’t want better gas mileage these days? Which would mean you could afford to put more items in your motorcycle saddlebags than before.

Many 600cc sportbikes produce over 100hp and 1000cc liter bikes develop over 150hp so there's no reason why we can't use a sophisticated motorcycle engine to power a smaller car. Powering a car with a motorcycle engine is a bit more complex than dropping a small-block Chevy into your old street machine. The one down-fall to using a motorcycle is that, most motorcycles do not have a reverse, which would make getting out of a parking spot a little tricky! Among some of the builders of motorcycle-cars is Suzuki and the Smartuki has now been built. It’s a GSX-R1000 powered Smart Car with 180hp, 0-60 in 4.2 sec. and 12.4 quarter miles. Over the last few years, more and more women have been riding into bike weeks and rallies than every before. Through the first three quarters of 2008 a survey found a 29 percent increase in the percentage of female owners, compared to 2003. That last survey found that 9.6 percent of owners were women. Over the first nine months of 2008, the number had grown to 12.4 percent. This is most likely the most substantial rider segment of growth in the findings which is logical if you compare the growth of women in other segments such as single home owners and business operators. The on-going phenomenon is do to the ever increasing line of motorcycles designed for women, and an endless line of accessories to please them. Ladies now have gear designed specifically for them, to be not just fashionable but protective also. Womens motorcycle jackets are far more advanced than the offerings even two years ago. Lady riders will continue to be a huge part of the ever growing motorcycle market.

Finally the Harley-Davidson Corporation is going to get into the game. After booming sales of Trikes in the past few years Harley has finally got the message, and their response is the new 2009 Harley-Davidson 3 Wheeler called the Tri-Glide Ultra Classic. It is based on a new chassis and offers the classic styling and popular touring features of the Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide in a vehicle that will be sold and serviced by the network of Harley-Davidson dealers and covered by a two-year Harley-Davidson limited warranty. The Tri Glide will have an MSRP of $29,999. Along with the beast of a trike, HD has just came out with yet another unbeatable line of Harley Davidson Boots.

Hells Angels Blacklisted?

The Canadian Parliament is considering outlawing motorcycle gangs and criminal organizations, starting with the Hells Angels. Just as terrorist organizations are officially blacklisted the motorcycle gangs would be eliminated from Canadian territories. Canada has had a list of banned terrorist organizations since 2001, mainly pulled from an international list, that has led to more than 150 arrest in the Hells Angels. Criminal Intelligence Service Canada reported in August 2008 that there are 900 organized crime groups operating in Canada. So all you bikers out there, be sure to wear your Motorcycle helmet in Canada to ward off the billy clubs to the head.

Tail Of The Dragon

In an isolated place just outside off Tennessee in North Carolina lies the 11 mile stretch of US129 called Deals Gap, more commonly known as The Tail of the Dragon. This is a place of adventure as well as misfortune. Thousands come from miles, year round to get a glimpse of or even ride the Dragon. Known as the road with the most twists and turns the Dragon has 318 curves in just about 11 miles and is one of the most popular places for motorcycle and street car enthusiasts alike it’s a place to test you ability and the cops patients. Oh yes did i say cops? The 5-0 have been cracking down on the Dragon hardcore this year and don’t plan on stopping, but this should not deter you from making the trip to see the Dragon. Motorcycle safety is very important while riding. There are many different ways to keep yourself safe while riding. First you should have a quality motorcycle jacket, leather gloves, DOT approved helmet, full over the ankle boots, and good shatter proof eye protection. Selecting a motorcycle jacket that is right for you is crucial. You need to make sure that it fits correctly and there are no loose pieces flying in the wind that can get caught on anything or distract you while your riding. Also having a jacket with good armor is important too. Next making sure you have a DOT approved helmet is necessary. The Department of Transportation has developed a system for ensuring that your helmet meets or exceeds all safety standards, so make sure your helmet is DOT approved. And finally you should always have a good pair of riding boots. Riding boots are usually made from TPU rubber and leather to with stand the harsh elements you might run into on the open road.

Of the fifty states, only 4 are 100% helmet law free! Colorado, Illinois, Iowa and New Hampshire. Of the other 46 states, 20 have full helmet laws for all motorcycle riders: Alabama, California, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia. 19 States have helmet laws that exempt adult riders, riders over the age of majority -- 18 years old and over. Alaska, Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming. There are 7 states that discriminate against adult bikers between the ages of 18 and 20. Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Texas. Leather Vs. PVC Saddlebags

So you’re thinking about buying something leather but don’t know if you want genuine leather of synthetic leather. Well let’s just start by going over the similarities. Both leather saddlebags and synthetic leather saddle bags both have the same purpose, to add storage and protect belongings from harsh weather conditions while on/off the road, also both types can be purchased in bolt-on or detachable form, and come in a wide variety of sizes, styles, and shapes. Now on the other hand let’s talk about the differences. With traditional leather there is an issue of maintenance. Genuine leather is just like your skin, you have to moisturize and condition so it will not dry out and crack. Where as a synthetic will stand up to dry weather much better, with less care. Next we have to talk about gravity. Over time genuine leather will expand and contract and may begin to sag or stretch, where as synthetic leather will not stretch. We also have to think about what impact the harmful UV rays from the sun will have on the product. Genuine leather over time will fade, as opposed to synthetic which will not. One final difference between the two is flammability. Now I'm not going to tell you that you can't light genuine leather on fire, but synthetic leather is by far more flammable. So you make the call, genuine leather, or Synthetic leather? Hopefully this gives you a good idea about what you want.
